Little Paws Rescue NI (LPR) is committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our animals. Our adoption process is designed to match each dog with a suitable home environment, and we are dedicated to transparency and support throughout this journey.

1. Adoption Commitment

By adopting a dog from LPR, you agree to:

• Provide a Safe Environment: Ensure the dog is kept warm, safe, well-fed, and treated like a family member.

• Microchip Maintenance: Keep the details of your dog’s microchip up to date.

• Dog Licensing: Apply for a dog licence with your local council as required by law.

• Permanent Care: Keep the dog in your care. If you can no longer care for the dog, it must be returned to LPR.

2. Assessment and Disclosure

• LPR conducts thorough assessments of each dog’s behaviour and needs.

• Any identified behavioural issues will be communicated to adopters to ensure a well-informed adoption process.

3. Training Standards

• LPR emphasises the use of positive reinforcement training techniques.

• The use of extreme training devices, such as E-collars and prong collars, is strictly prohibited.

• If you encounter behavioural challenges, please contact us. We can provide recommendations for trained professionals who use positive methods.

• Our dogs are not to be trained for protection work. Ignoring this requirement may result in the inability of LPR to take the dog back if you can no longer care for it.

4. Veterinary Care

• Comprehensive veterinary care is provided to every dog prior to adoption.

• All necessary procedures will be completed before adoption. If an adult dog is adopted without being neutered, LPR will cover the costs for this procedure at the appropriate time.

5. Neutering / Spaying Requirements

• Dogs not old enough to be neutered/spayed at the time of adoption must undergo the procedure within six months of reaching the appropriate age.

• You must notify us once the procedure is completed.

• Non-compliance may result in the removal of the dog from your care.

• If financial constraints are a concern, please contact us as soon as possible. We may be able to assist with the costs.

6. Living Arrangements

• LPR does not rehome dogs to live outdoors unless specifically stated.

• If evidence of this is discovered, LPR reserves the right to rescind the rehoming agreement, making the adoption agreement null and void. The dog will be required to be returned to LPR.

7. Legal Requirements for Greyhounds

As per the Control of Greyhounds etc. Act (Northern Ireland) 1950, all Greyhound breeds must be muzzled and kept on a lead in public.

This regulation extends to Lurchers, Whippets and Greyhound crossbreeds.

8. Refund Policy

Once the rehoming agreement is signed, all rehoming fees are non-refundable. Adoption fees are used to support veterinary care and welfare for all LPR animals and are not specific to one particular dog.
